War against Banditry/Lakurawa: Our successes boosting locals’ confidence on us – Army

The success being recorded in the fight against banditry and the Lakurawa sect in the North-West have boosted the confidence of the locals in the Nigerian Army,

The General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Man Gen Ibikunle Ajose disclosed this at this year’s West African Social Activities event, WASA, held at the Giginya Barrack at the weekend.

According to Ajose, the war against banditry and terrorists has been progressively and steadily won by the troops, leading to the elimination of several bandit leaders and their supporters.

This is no doubt boosting socioeconomic activities across the area of responsibility, as farmers and loyal citizens are now going about their activities, boosting confidence reposed in us by the populace.

”These activities assisted in maintaining the peace we enjoy in the state, therefore, it is against this backdrop that I stand to say that the successes we recorded last year were because of dedication to service and commitment by all our personnel,” he remarked.

The GOC assured that Nigerian Army would remain committed to the defence and security of our nation.

In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu applauded the efforts of the Nigerian Army in tackling the security challenges in the state and the country at large.

Represented by Retired Col. Ahmad Usman, the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Aliyu noted that, officers and soldier’s have demonstrated exceptional performance and commitment which led to the crushing of all forms of criminality in the state.

“I am impressed with achievements on combating banditry, terrorism, kidnapping for ransom, cattle rustling, armed robbery and others.
