Reps Confirm Oluyede As Army Chief

The House of Representatives has confirmed Olufemi Oluyede as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

The confirmation came after a report was presented by Babajimi Benson, Chairman of the Committee on Defense.

The Joint Committee on Army and Defense had screened Oluyede on Wednesday.

Oluyede was nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Acting COAS due to the ill health of the former Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, who later passed away.

The confirmation of Oluyede as the COAS is seen as a significant development in the country’s security sector.

His experience and expertise in military affairs are expected to bring stability and effectiveness to the Nigerian Army.

The confirmation of Oluyede’s appointment serves as a testament to the government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s security institutions.

The move is also expected to boost the morale of the Nigerian Army and enhance its capacity to address the country’s security challenges.
