The Plateau State Coalition of Indigenous Youth Bodies SMELLS A RAT in the ongoing campaign of calumny orchestrated against the person of the Director, Operations of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Mobile Police Force and the Plateau State security outfit “Operation Rainbow ”.
The attention of the Coalition of Plateau Indigenous Youth Bodies has been drawn to a petition dated 5th October, 2026, signed by one Mudahid Abdullahi, Esq., on behalf of the Plateau Chapters of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN), Fulbe Youth Development Association (FUYODA and others, expressing deep concerns over alleged biased and discriminatory Operations against the Fulani communities. The petitioners also alleged that the DSS should be held responsible for killings and abduction of members of Fulani community, rustling of cattle, poisoning and shootings of cows amongst several other crimes in Plateau State. In addition, there is a video, to the same effect, making the rounds on many social media handles including Facebook, claiming that the DSS, Mobile Police and Operation Rainbow are not serving the interest of peace on the Plateau EXCEPT for the Nigerian Army alone that obeys, respects and acts according to their whims and caprices.
The Youths Coalition understands that the said petition as well as the video in circulation is intended to distort the true narrative, thereby misinforming and misleading the Federal authorities and, indeed, the general public.
From our firm view and beliefs, five (5) inordinate objectives are discernible from this strategy:
1. Intimidate and blackmail the person of Mr Paul Damian, the State Director of DSS
2. Discredit the highly successful and productive operations of the DSS, Mobile Police Force and Operation Rainbow in the State, which has inter-alia led to the arrest of the infamous Ardo Mahmoud Adams, a well-known ring leader of Fulani militants, bandits and terrorists.
3. Disrupt, remove or, at least, cause a discontinuation of operations being undertaken by the DSS, Mobile Police Force and Operation Rainbow along Local Security Volunteers.
4. Discourage inter-agency collaboration, synergy and intelligence sharing between security agencies and targeted and vulnerable communities
5. To unscrupulously present the Nigerian Army as the only effective Force in dealing with killings, displacements and destructions in the State.
FACTS OF THE MATTER:
– since the commencement of joint Operations involving the DSS, Mobile Police Force and Operation Rainbow, the Indigenous Youth Bodies and, indeed, all other peace loving Nigerians have come to be more aware that the practice and sinister motive behind grazing cattle with batches of militants, bandits as well as terrorists elements carrying lethal weapons and attacking hamlets, villages and communities is a strategy of war and forceful occupation of territory currently being unleashed on Plateau communities. Without any fear of contradictions, the Coalition has the list of at least, 152 hamlets, villages and communities that have suffered this fate.
– To the best of our knowledge, Mr. Paul Damian, the Director DSS and, indeed, his agency, is not involved in killings, poisoning and/or rustling of cattle. We are witnesses to incidents where cattle are intercepted by security agents while mischievously grazing on people’s farms either in broad daylight or at night, and are necessarily held in the custody of security agents, until the culprits are identified or fished.
– The Coalition of the Indigenous bodies “smell a rat” such as the one in the video that prefers the Nigerian Army against the transparent and effective operations mounted by the DSS and other security agencies calls for thorough investigation. For the Coalition, the investigation we demand will help put to rest the veracity of allegations of unprofessional conduct, corruption, compromise and complacency on the part of some personnel of the Nigerian Army, who are said to have been colluding with Fulani militants, bandits and terrorist elements.
– Contrary to the said petition and indeed the video, the Coalition of Indigenous Youth Bodies are also aware that Fulani militants, bandits and terrorists element have continued to ambush and attack personnel of the DSS, Mobile Police, operatives of Operation Rainbow and local vigilante.
– On the 1st Day of June, 2026, the Fulani millitants, bandits and terrorists gangs unleashed their terror on a new deployed DSS base located at Nding Sesut, Fan, Barkin Ladi LGA. Similarly, on the 23rd August, 2026, Tanjol/Tarai villages of Jol Community were stormed by over 400 Fulani militants, bandits and terrorists that also ambushed and killed two (2) DSS officers, and took away the riffles (Munti-purpose Machine Gun-MG and AK47) belonging to the killed operattives, after which the attackers ran back into their hideout at Rankum (Mahanga), Riyom LGA. Furthermore, Mobile Police officers have equally been killed two weeks ago at Dares and Kwi villages of Bokkos and Riyom LGAs respectively, as well as the Operations Officer of the Operation Rainbow, DSP David Babale, who was ambushed and killed very close to a Millitary checkpoint around Rakok village in the outskirts of Barkin Ladi town.
– It is worthy of mention here that the Fulani militants, bandits and other violence inclined gangs in a collaborative effort of their sponsors, are currently raising funds in a tune of #20 Million with intent to subtly intensify their designed media campaigns of calumny as well as filing of court cases and publication of petitions on media handles, particularly Daily Trust, which the Coalition considers as dangerous moves to forestall and frustrate the ongoing crackdown on insurgency, violent extremists and war merchants in Plateau State and its environs.
Again, the Coalition has not forgotten the fatal injuries recently suffered by DSS operatives who were ambushed at Kantoma and Alohgom in Mangu LGA some weeks ago, while responding to distress calls from communities under attacks.
It beats our imagination hollow, that the petitioner has chosen to substitute the factual truth of this matter by so called concerns of biased and discriminatory treatment against a community that continues to conceal and protect “its own” militants, bandits and terrorist elements residing amongst them, who by our estimation, are working for their common objective, which is: “Terrorize, Displace, and Occupy”.
– As far as the Coalition of the Plateau Youths is concerned, there is incontrovertible evidence that the DSS, Mobile Police Force and Operation Rainbow’s operations are effective, on track and yielding significant results including arrest of some ringleaders, merchants of war and their foot-soldiers, reduction in mass attacks on communities and crops destruction.
It therefore goes without saying, that if the Fulani are demanding, as implied in their petition and video, for the removal or discontinuation of the successful operations of the DSS and other security agencies as currently being witnessed on the Plateau, then let the entire world note that they are ENEMIES OF THE STATE, PEACE AND PROOGRESS and they should be so designated, because they prefer attacks, abduction and kidnappings, displacements as well as destruction to continue unabated.
On the other hand, if Mr President and, indeed, other Federal authorities give in to this ploy or are cajoled into surrendering to terrorists and cunning manipulations of detractors, then let it be abundantly known that there is no hope for peace and tranquillity on the Plateau and, indeed, Nigeria.
All the Coalition of Indigenous Youth Bodies is saying is that the said petition and video making the rounds on social media platforms should be properly understood for what they are: ploys and strategies of distraction, and should not be entertained or accorded ANY utilitarian value.
The Director, the DSS, Mobile Police, Operation Rainbow and Indeed Vigilante currently operating in Plateau State NEED to be appreciated and encouraged to do more precise and penetrating operations so that the battle against insurgency can be given a DEADLY blow, rather than be distracted. The DSS director, Mr Paul Damain, who is currently leading productive operations in the State should NEVER be subjected to arbitrarily removal or posting in accordance with the spurious wishes of the petitioners.
CONCLUSION
The Coalition of Plateau Indigenous Youth Bodies stands firmly for the protection of Plateau communities, the continuation of lawful and effective security operations, and accountability for every individual found to have acted outside the law.
We will not accept selective narratives against security agencies while neglecting the suffering of communities or attacks against personnel deployed to protect them.
Plateau State cannot afford to have its security operations weakened by ploys and strategies of manipulation. The protection of innocent lives must take precedence over every personal, organisational or political interest.
The Federal Government and all relevant authorities must uphold the law and ensure that lawful security operations are neither arbitrarily undermined nor discontinued without compelling justification. The Coalition’s position is firm: protect the people, confront criminality.
Long Live the Coalition of Indigenous Youths Nationalities! Long Live Plateau State!! Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
