The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command, and the Nigeria Police Force have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening interagency collaboration to tackle insecurity and ensure peaceful, free and fair general elections in the state.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Delta State Command, Chinedu Igbo, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by the newly deployed Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale, to the NSCDC State Headquarters in Asaba on Friday, October 16, 2026, at about 11:40 a.m.Upon arrival, Erale inspected the Guard of Honour before being warmly received by Igbo, who subsequently introduced him to the senior officers of the Corps.
The visit was followed by a closed door meeting involving senior officers of both security agencies, during which the two sides discussed strategies for strengthening cooperation, improving operational coordination and addressing security challenges across Delta State.
Speaking during the meeting, Erale expressed appreciation to the NSCDC State Command for the warm reception, describing it as a demonstration of acceptance, unity and the shared commitment of both agencies to protecting lives and property. He emphasised that no security agency could effectively tackle the complex challenges of insecurity in isolation, stressing the need for stronger collaboration, professionalism and intelligence driven operations among security formations.
The police commissioner also highlighted some challenges he had observed in interagency collaboration since assuming office, expressing optimism that improved communication, coordinated operations and mutual understanding would enhance the collective response to crime and criminality in the state. He explained that his visit to the NSCDC was aimed at consolidating existing relationships and building a more effective framework for cooperation, partnership and information sharing in support of internal security. In his response, Igbo agreed that no single security agency could successfully address the security challenges confronting the country without the support of other relevant organisations.
He stressed the importance of collaboration, cooperation and coordination among the NSCDC, the Police and other security agencies. The commandant noted that the approach was consistent with the leadership philosophy of the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who has continued to emphasise interagency cooperation as a critical component of the nation’s security architecture.Igbo assured the commissioner of the NSCDC’s continued support for the Police, recognising its lead role in internal security coordination, and pledged to strengthen the existing partnership between the two agencies.
He further assured residents of Delta State that the NSCDC remained committed to working with the Police and other security stakeholders to prevent crime, protect critical national assets and infrastructure, and maintain peace and public order. Both agencies reiterated the importance of sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing and professional conduct in addressing emerging security threats and creating a safe environment for residents, businesses and electoral activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
