e Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command, Chinedu Igbo, has called for stronger collaboration among security agencies to sustain Nigeria’s democratic gains and deepen national development.
Commandant Igbo made the call during the nation’s Independence Day celebration held at the Cenotaph in Asaba, where he joined other military and paramilitary service commanders in commemorating Nigeria’s 66th anniversary.
According to him, enhanced cooperation among security agencies remains critical to maintaining peace, protecting democratic institutions and ensuring the safety of lives and property across Delta State. He stressed the need for intensified joint security operations involving all relevant stakeholders to strengthen public confidence, encourage citizens’ participation in nation building and promote greater synergy among security services operating within the state.
The NSCDC Commandant noted that sustainable economic growth and development are closely linked to the prevailing security situation in any society. He explained that investors are more likely to commit resources to environments where security is guaranteed and business activities can flourish without fear of disruption.
He therefore urged security agencies to continue working collectively to create a conducive atmosphere for economic growth, investment and national development, adding that a secure society remains the foundation for progress and prosperity.
The Independence Day celebration attracted top government officials and dignitaries, including the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, members of the State Executive Council, the judiciary, members of the Delta State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, as well as heads of military, paramilitary and other security agencies in the state.
