The Editor-in-Chief of People’s Security Monitor (PSM), Isiaka Mustapha, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant General of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Dr. James Udoma, at the organisation’s National Headquarters in Abuja.
The visit was aimed at strengthening engagement between the media and community based security organisations in support of national security and public safety.
During the meeting, discussions centred on the promotion of security awareness through responsible journalism and the critical role of the media in informing, educating and sensitising citizens on security related issues.
Emphasis was placed on the need for accurate, balanced and timely reporting as a means of encouraging vigilance, fostering public confidence and supporting ongoing efforts to tackle crime and insecurity across the country.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the media and community security organisations in educating the public on their collective responsibility towards building a safer and more secure Nigeria.
Isiaka Mustapha reaffirmed the commitment of People’s Security Monitor to supporting initiatives that promote peace, security and national development through professional journalism and sustained public enlightenment.facebook
