The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) joined the Ogun State Government and other stakeholders at a special interdenominational church service held to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.The service took place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, and brought together government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers and residents to offer prayers for the nation.The Ogun State Commandant of NSCDC, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, represented the corps at the event alongside the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele, who represented Governor Dapo Abiodun as the Special Guest of Honour.Other dignitaries in attendance included service commanders, members of the Ogun State Executive Council, senior government officials and traditional rulers.Delivering the Governor’s message, the Deputy Governor called on Nigerians to work collectively towards building a stronger, more peaceful and united nation. She also urged citizens to continue praying for the country’s leaders and for sustained peace, security, unity and prosperity across Nigeria and Ogun State.“As Nigeria marks 66 years of independence, we pray for greater peace, security, unity and prosperity for our nation,” she said.The service featured hymns, scriptural readings and special prayers for Nigeria and Ogun State, reflecting a shared commitment to national development and social harmony.The event concluded with the recitation of the National Pledge, as participants renewed their commitment to the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.Photo Caption: Ogun State NSCDC Commandant, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, alongside the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr.
