The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, alongside Service Chiefs and other senior government officials, on Tuesday visited the headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command, in Minna, where they were received by the State Commandant, Commandant Abdulhamid Salisu Kabara.The visit formed part of ongoing consultations and engagements by the state government and security stakeholders following recent developments surrounding the deaths of persons arrested in connection with alleged illegal mining activities in parts of the state.Welcoming the delegation, Commandant Kabara expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a reflection of the strong partnership between the Niger State Government, security agencies and other critical stakeholders in promoting transparency, accountability and public safety.He noted that effective collaboration among security institutions remains essential to addressing emerging security challenges and sustaining peace across the state.During the visit, members of the delegation held discussions with the NSCDC leadership and received briefings on relevant operational matters relating to the recent incident.The Deputy Governor and other members of the delegation also conducted an inspection of key facilities within the Command headquarters, including the detention area where some of the suspects had previously been held.Commandant Kabara reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC Niger State Command to working closely with the state government, sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders in the discharge of its constitutional mandate.He further assured that the Command would continue to uphold professionalism, due process and the rule of law while carrying out its responsibility of protecting critical national assets, lives and property across Niger State.
