NSCDC Katsina Refutes Reports Linking Serving Deputy Commandant to Employment Fraud Conviction
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that a serving Deputy Commandant of the Corps, Sani Lawal, was convicted by a High Court in Katsina over an employment fraud case.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Command clarified that the information being circulated does not accurately reflect the facts surrounding the case and has created a wrong impression about the status of the individual involved.
According to the Command, the person mentioned in the reports was no longer a serving officer of the NSCDC at the time of his conviction, having exited the service upon attaining the statutory retirement age before the court judgment was delivered.
The Command stressed that linking the conviction to a serving Deputy Commandant of the Corps is inaccurate and misleading, noting that such reports have the potential to misinform the public and erode confidence in security institutions.
NSCDC Katsina condemned what it described as the deliberate distortion of facts and the dissemination of misinformation capable of causing unnecessary public concern and damaging the reputation of the Corps.
The Command reiterated its commitment to professionalism, integrity and accountability, emphasizing that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward criminal conduct and unethical behaviour among its personnel.
It further assured residents of the state and the general public that the Corps remains dedicated to discharging its statutory mandate of safeguarding lives and property, protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, and contributing to national security.
The NSCDC also urged members of the public to verify information from credible and official sources before sharing it, in order to prevent the spread of false narratives and misinformation.
The Command warned job seekers to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters and recruitment racketeers who often exploit the desperation of unemployed persons by offering fake employment opportunities in exchange for money.
It advised prospective applicants to disregard unofficial recruitment advertisements and to rely solely on announcements issued through authorized government channels whenever recruitment exercises are conducted.
The Corps reaffirmed its determination to work with relevant authorities to combat all forms of fraud and criminality while maintaining public trust through transparency and responsible service delivery.
NSCDC Katsina State Command therefore called on citizens to continue supporting security agencies with credible information that will enhance security, public safety and the protection of national assets. :::
