The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has introduced a comprehensive staff welfare package, including a new medical intervention scheme and an upward review of its interest-free loan facility to ₦500,000, as part of efforts to improve the wellbeing, productivity, and morale of its personnel nationwide.
The initiative reflects the Service’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of officers and men, recognising that a motivated workforce is essential to effective service delivery and the protection of lives and property.
Speaking on the development, the leadership of the Federal Fire Service noted that the medical intervention scheme was designed to provide timely financial support to personnel facing health-related challenges, thereby reducing the burden of medical expenses on officers and their families.
According to the Service, access to quality healthcare remains a critical component of staff welfare, especially for personnel who routinely operate in hazardous environments and are exposed to occupational risks in the course of their duties.
In addition to the healthcare initiative, the Service announced the increase of its interest-free loan facility from its previous level to ₦500,000. The enhanced loan package is expected to provide greater financial relief to personnel, enabling them to address urgent personal and family needs without the burden of high-interest borrowing.
The Federal Fire Service stated that the revised loan scheme forms part of broader efforts to strengthen financial stability among personnel and improve their overall standard of living.
Officials expressed confidence that the welfare measures would contribute significantly to boosting staff morale, enhancing commitment to duty, and fostering a more productive work environment across commands and formations.
