In a symbolic gesture that reflected loyalty, gratitude, and professional excellence, the Commander of the Mining Marshals, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) John Onoja Attah, on Thursday presented his Badge of Honour to the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Abubakar Ahmed Audi.
The presentation served as a heartfelt expression of appreciation and recognition of the Commandant General’s exemplary leadership, visionary guidance, and enduring influence on the growth of the Corps and the professional development of its personnel.
ACC Attah described the gesture as a personal tribute to a leader whose commitment to service, discipline, and institutional reform has continued to inspire officers and men across the NSCDC. He noted that the Commandant General’s dedication to excellence has played a significant role in shaping the successes recorded by the Mining Marshals in the protection of Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
According to him, Prof. Audi’s leadership style, anchored on professionalism, integrity, and innovation, has created an enabling environment for officers to perform their duties with confidence and purpose. He added that the achievements of the Mining Marshals are a direct reflection of the support and strategic direction provided by the Corps’ leadership.
The Mining Marshals Commander further stated that the Badge of Honour represents not only personal appreciation but also the collective gratitude of officers who have benefited from the Commandant General’s mentorship and commitment to capacity building within the service.
He commended Prof. Audi for his unwavering efforts in repositioning the NSCDC as a formidable institution in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as in the fight against economic sabotage and illegal mining activities across the country.
Receiving the honour, the Commandant General expressed appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the Corps’ operational capabilities and enhancing the welfare and professional growth of personnel. He encouraged officers to remain dedicated to the values of discipline, patriotism, and selfless service.
The event underscored the strong bond of mentorship and mutual respect that exists within the Corps, while highlighting the importance of leadership that inspires excellence, accountability, and national service. It also served as a reminder that outstanding leadership is often measured not only by institutional achievements but by the positive impact it leaves on those entrusted with carrying out the mission.
Observers noted that the presentation was a fitting acknowledgment of a leader whose vision continues to drive reforms and operational successes across various formations of the NSCDC. The gesture reinforced the culture of appreciation and recognition that remains essential to sustaining morale and excellence within security institutions.
As the Corps continues to expand its role in safeguarding national assets and supporting internal security operations, the relationship between visionary leaders and committed officers remains a critical factor in achieving organizational goals and delivering effective service to the nation.
