Troops of the 312 Artillery Regiment deployed at the Strike Force Base in the Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna State have apprehended a suspected impostor who allegedly paraded himself as retired Major General M.T. Ibrahim.
The suspect was arrested following intelligence reports and subsequent verification by security personnel, who discovered that he had been falsely presenting himself as a retired senior officer of the Nigerian Army.
Military sources disclosed that the suspect had allegedly used the assumed identity to gain credibility and possibly influence unsuspecting members of the public. His activities have since become the subject of further investigation by relevant authorities.
The arrest has drawn attention because of the unusually high military rank the suspect chose to impersonate. Rather than assuming the identity of a junior officer, he allegedly presented himself as a Major General, one of the highest ranks in the Nigerian Army.
Security analysts have described the development as both daring and alarming, noting that the impersonation of senior military officers poses a significant threat to public trust and national security.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue to determine the extent of his activities, possible accomplices, and any benefits he may have obtained while masquerading as the retired military officer.
