The Nigeria Police Force has effected a leadership change in Ondo State following allegations of unauthorised financial deductions reportedly linked to internal command operations. The development comes amid concerns raised over claims that certain officers were subjected to monthly monetary obligations estimated at about two million naira.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the allegations centred on accusations of improper financial practices within segments of the state command structure. The situation is said to have triggered internal complaints and heightened administrative attention from police authorities at the national level.
As part of the response, the Inspector General of Police ordered a review of the circumstances surrounding the allegations, leading to the removal of the state Commissioner of Police. Authorities are understood to be pursuing further internal processes to determine the extent of compliance with financial and operational regulations within the command.
While details remain subject to official confirmation, the police hierarchy is said to be treating the matter as part of broader efforts to strengthen accountability and discipline within the force. The affected officer is yet to issue a formal public statement, and investigations are ongoing.
The development underscores continuing concerns over financial transparency and internal oversight mechanisms within security institutions, particularly at state command levels.
