The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to inter agency collaboration as part of efforts to enhance public safety and national security.
This was disclosed in a press release issued by the Command’s Public Relations Office following a courtesy visit by the newly deployed Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Sokoto State Command, CI Abubakar Isah Zuwaida, to the NSCDC State Headquarters in Sokoto.
The State Commandant of NSCDC in Sokoto, CC EA Ajayi, received the Immigration Comptroller and his delegation on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, at about 11:30 hours.
The engagement centred on strengthening strategic cooperation between both agencies, particularly in addressing trans border crimes and improving security along Nigeria’s frontline borders.
According to the statement, the visit provided an opportunity for both organisations to develop practical frameworks for intelligence gathering and information sharing, aimed at tackling insecurity and criminal activities affecting border communities.
In his remarks, Comptroller Zuwaida expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him and emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration between the NIS and NSCDC in achieving national security objectives.
He noted that intensified border patrols, surveillance operations, and intelligence driven strategies remain critical in combating trans border crimes. He further stressed that security agencies must maintain unity and professionalism, as criminal elements view all law enforcement bodies as a common adversary.
The Comptroller also called for improved cooperation, mutual respect, and enhanced intelligence coordination among security institutions to effectively mitigate crime and ensure public safety.
In his response, the NSCDC State Commandant, CC Ajayi, commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for its vital role in the national security framework, particularly in safeguarding Nigeria’s borders.
He underscored the importance of collaboration, cooperation, and coordination as key pillars for effective security operations, noting that both agencies share a common responsibility in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure.
“The NSCDC Sokoto State Command remains committed to working closely with the Nigeria Immigration Service across all operational areas to address evolving security challenges,” he said.
Ajayi further pledged the deployment of the Corps’ personnel and intelligence resources to support joint efforts aimed at creating a safer and more secure environment.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph involving senior officials of the NSCDC and members of the Immigration Service delegation.
Both agencies reaffirmed their resolve to deepen cooperation and develop comprehensive strategies to curb criminal activities and strengthen the overall security architecture in Sokoto State and Nigeria at large.
