Gunmen Abduct Father of Former Ebonyi Deputy Governor

Mr. Francis Igwe, father of former Ebonyi State Deputy Governor Kelechi Igwe, has been kidnapped by armed assailants.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday morning as he was traveling to church in his Ndufu-Alike community.

According to local sources, Mr. Igwe was driving when gunmen on a motorcycle intercepted his vehicle. The attackers allegedly forced him out of his car and carried him away on their motorcycle to an unknown location.

The Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Sunday Nwankwo, confirmed the abduction and said the council is cooperating with security agencies to gather information and facilitate a swift rescue.

Efforts to reach the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, Joshua Ukandu, for comment were unsuccessful, as calls and messages went unanswered at the time of reporting.
