The Government of the United States has praised the Nigerian Air Force for its strong level of preparedness ahead of the delivery of AH 1Z helicopters. The commendation followed the assessment of facilities designated to receive and maintain the aircraft, which were found to be ready for deployment and sustainment.
The praise came after a three day engagement held at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja. The United States delegation was from PMA 276 and was led by Robert Galan, who oversaw discussions on preparations for the arrival of the helicopters.
Talks focused on developing a comprehensive Programme and Support Plan to guarantee smooth integration, long term maintenance and operational efficiency of the incoming fleet. Both sides reviewed technical, operational and logistical frameworks necessary to ensure that the aircraft become fully functional upon delivery.
Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdullahi, who represented the Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force to meet all required technical and logistical standards before the helicopters arrive in the country.
He assured the delegation that all necessary infrastructure, manpower training and support systems would be in place to sustain the aircraft and maximize their operational value in strengthening national security operations.
The engagement underscores the steady growth in defence cooperation between Nigeria and the United States, founded on mutual trust and shared security objectives. The commendation signals international confidence in the Nigerian Air Force modernisation programme and reinforces Nigeria’s air power capacity in support of national security and stability.
