As part of activities marking the 2026 International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) Day, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, on Friday, February 20, led officers and men of the Corps to a special Jumu’ah prayer at the NSCDC National Mosque, National Headquarters, Abuja.
In his sermon, the National Chief Imam of the NSCDC, SC Aliyu Suleiman, highlighted the indispensable role of security in human existence, emphasizing that no society can practise religion effectively without peace and safety. He noted that Islam places a high premium on the protection of lives and property, adding that Allah rewards those who contribute to safeguarding humanity and critical national assets.
The cleric urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies, particularly the NSCDC, in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities. He also offered prayers for the management, officers, and men of the Corps, seeking divine guidance and protection in the course of their duties.
Also speaking, DSC Mohammed Sani Ibrahim led special prayers for the success of the ICDO Day celebration, while Imam Abubakar Murtala prayed for the continued progress of the ICDO, the NSCDC, the Commandant General, and all personnel of the Corps.
Earlier, the Chairman of the 2026 ICDO Organising Committee and Deputy Commandant General in charge of the Directorate of Technical Services, Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, fdc, who spoke on behalf of the Grand Patron of the Muslim Ummah in the NSCDC, Prof. Audi, commended the Commandant General for his consistent support. He described the special Jumu’ah prayer as a significant and spiritually uplifting highlight of the celebration.
The well-attended prayer session was graced by Deputy Commandants General, Assistant Commandants General, Commandants of Corps, officers and men of the NSCDC, as well as members of the Sauka community.
