Vigilante Group of Nigeria Debunks Online Publication, Affirms Bakori as Commander General

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has issued an official disclaimer, describing a publication currently circulating online as false, misleading, and the handiwork of an impostor.
In a statement released by the organisation, the VGN clarified that the individual responsible for the write-up was not present at the venue of the court sitting referenced in the report. The group condemned what it described as a deliberate attempt to misinform its officers and mislead members of the public, stressing that such actions are unacceptable and must cease immediately.
The organisation further affirmed that Umar AB Bakori (Rtd.) remains the duly recognised and authentic Commander General of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria. It emphasized that there is no leadership crisis or vacuum within the command structure of the organisation.
Addressing the court matter mentioned in the disputed publication, the VGN explained that the sitting did not hold as claimed. According to the statement, the case was officially adjourned and is now scheduled to resume on March 3, 2026. The group urged the public to disregard any contrary claims.
The Vigilante Group of Nigeria therefore called on all its officers and Nigerians at large to ignore the earlier report, describing it as fake, baseless, and intended to create confusion and unnecessary tension.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, discipline, and lawful conduct, the organisation assured stakeholders that verified information and updates would always be communicated through appropriate and recognised official channels.
