Consequent upon the upcoming Eid-el Kabir celebrations globally, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, under the leadership and operational jurisdiction of the State Commandant, David Idowu Ojelabi, has deployed a total of 2,150 ahead of the festivities for the security and protection of lives and property, maintenance of law and order and surveillance and protection of all government critical assets and infrastructure in Ogun State.
The deployment followed the directive of the State Commandant during a press briefing to restate the preparedness and readiness of the Corps towards the celebration.
According to Ojelabi, the State Command had made adequate and concerted efforts at deploying all Command’s tactical teams: the Counter-Terrorism unit; the Special Female Squad; the State Command’s Special Armed Squad; the Anti-Vandal Squad; the Mines and Steel Monitoring Squad; the Disaster and Rescue Management Unit amongst others for a peaceful celebration in and around Ogun State.
He added that these tactical teams will cover public places such as praying grounds/centres; market places; recreation centres; IBEDC cables and assets; mining sites; black spots and other places across the State with high levels of human population and activities.
According to him, the command will also deploy sophisticated surveillance and intelligence through covert operational officers and men for the essence of information gathering and communication across the State.
“I have pronounced and ordered all heads of divisions and area commands to supervise their officers and men for professional and effective security management in collaboration and synergy with all other security agencies in the State” he added.
In the same vein, the State Command’s Special Monitoring Teams will also be moving around the metropolis alongside the ambulance for effective management and control of disasters in and around the State headed by the Command’s Head of Operations for effective security and protection of lives and property in the State before, during and after the festivities.
More so, all heads of jurisdictions in the State are to ensure adequate and full deployment of their officers and men especially in the areas of the Corps’ core mandates regarding the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure be it: Local, State and/or Federal ones against vandals and illegal perpetrators on such assets in the State.
While congratulating the Executive Governor, Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON on behalf of the Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, OFR, the State Commandant admonished everyone to celebrate with moderation shunning all acts capable of causing disrepute and disregard to law and order in the State especially that wish may violate the purposefulness of all government assets and infrastructure in and around the Gateway State.
Meanwhile, he noted that the Corps will never hesitate to arrest, arraign and prosecute anyone suspected to be undermining the established laws of the land as spelt out by the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) of the Corps.
This operational order has also been extended to the Ojude-Oba festival in Ijebu-Ode and its environs which is a global and annual gathering of all sons and daughters of Ijebuland which comes two days immediately after the Eid-el Kabir celebrations in the State.
To this end, all Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Officers and men in and around Ijebu and Remo Area Commands have been drafted to ensure peaceful and effective security management ahead of the festivities in Ijebuland.
“The State Command implores all law-abiding citizens across the State to provide the necessary and required intelligence for the arrest of anyone found to be breaching public peace in the State in conjunction with relevant security agencies” he emphasized.
