NSCDC Anambra State Command Decorates 216 Newly Promoted Officers, Urges Discipline and Professionalism

The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Wednesday formally decorated 216 officers who were promoted during the 2025 promotion exercise. The ceremony, held at the State Command Headquarters in Awka, celebrated the officers’ achievements and called on them to uphold the highest standards of discipline and professionalism.
Addressing the officers, Commandant Maku Olatunde emphasized that the promotions were a recognition of their dedication, sacrifices, and consistent contributions to the Corps, rather than merely a change in rank or title. He urged the officers to embrace their new roles with integrity, lead by example, and mentor junior personnel.
Commandant Maku commended the officers for their courage and resilience in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure across the country. He stressed that as they assume higher responsibilities, they must demonstrate accountability, ethical conduct, and leadership in every assignment.
He also expressed confidence that the officers’ renewed zeal and enhanced capacity would further strengthen the Corps in fulfilling its mandate. According to him, the promotion serves as a motivation for officers to continue striving for excellence in service delivery.
The Commandant extended appreciation to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his visionary leadership and support, which have significantly improved the welfare, morale, and operational capabilities of NSCDC personnel nationwide. He also commended the Commandant-General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, for fostering a merit-based promotion system, investing in advanced training, and cultivating a culture of professionalism within the NSCDC.
Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, DCC Oni Simeon thanked God for the recognition and expressed gratitude to the NSCDC management. She assured that the officers would continue to uphold integrity, loyalty, and service excellence, pledging renewed commitment to the nation and the Corps.
The event also featured guidance from invited guests, who highlighted leadership, integrity, and the responsibilities accompanying promotion. Among the officers promoted to Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) were DCC Simeon Oni, Area Commander for Area E Aguata; DCC Blessing Agu, Head of Anti-Fraud Unit; DCC Nnenna Kalu, Head of Planning, Research, and Statistics Department; and DCC Ebere Nwufor, Head of Anti-Human Trafficking Unit. Notable promotions to Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) included ACC Anaekwe Chinyere, Divisional Officer of Onitsha North, and ACC Nwankwo Chikwado of the Administration Department.
Other promotions included officers elevated from Superintendent of Corps (SC) to Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC), including Queen Nweke of Njikoka LGA, Emmanuel Nwaneri of the Training Department, Nweze Anthony, NSCDC Unit Commander at Government House Awka, Ikenna Nwokedi, Head of Special Duty Unit, and Agu Chidiebere, Divisional Officer of Aguata LGA.
The ceremony concluded with the formal decoration of the officers by senior officials and family members, symbolizing both institutional recognition and personal achievement. A group photograph was taken to commemorate the milestone occasion.
