Federal varsity presents 10 awards to wife of D-G DSS

The Federal University Dutsin-Ma, in Katsina State, has presented 10 awards of excellence to Hajiya A’isha Ibrahim-Yusuf, the wife of the Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS).

The Vice-Chancellor (V-C) of the university, Prof. Armaya’u Bichi, during the event in Dutsinma, said the award was for her outstanding contribution to nation building.

The awards that were presented at a special event organized solely in her honour emanated from the various departments and units of the institution.

One of the awards was ‘Jakadiyar Kasar Hausa’, presented to her by the Centre for Gender Studies of the university in recognition of the role she played in empowering women in all ramifications.

Bichi described her as an icon of development whose impactful intervention was unquantifiable.

He said, “After a careful assessment, the awards recipient has been found to have influenced the employment of over five thousand people.

“She had also constructed several schools, mosques, and other facilities in addition to providing many humanitarian services across the country.

“The university is proud of the awardee’s achievements. Therefore, the Federal Government should consider giving her national honour.”

The vice-chancellor also recommended her for honorary doctorate degrees by universities considering her untiring contributions to human and national development.

“The awardee, known as ‘Mama A’isha’, has also remained supportive of her childhood friends and others within her community and beyond,” he said.

The recipient, who was overwhelmed by the numerous awards, said she felt highly honoured and humbled by the recognition.

She promised not to relent in positively touching the lives of particularly children, women, and other vulnerable people in society to the best of her ability.
