NSCDC Deploys 800 Personnel for Yuletide Security in Sokoto

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command, has deployed 800 officers and men across the state to ensure adequate security before, during, and after the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The deployment, ordered by the State Commandant, CC EA Ajayi, is in anticipation of increased movement of residents and visitors into Sokoto State during the Yuletide period. The Command said the operation is aimed at denying criminal elements any opportunity to exploit the festive season.
According to the Commandant, the strategic deployment is in line with the directive of the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, as part of nationwide efforts to guarantee a safe, peaceful, and crime-free celebration across the country.
He stated that personnel have been strategically positioned at churches, markets, motor parks, recreational centres, and other identified locations, including Critical National Assets and Infrastructure across the state. He added that Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been directed to optimise deployment within their jurisdictions while maintaining close engagement with host communities, strengthening intelligence gathering, and sustaining a high level of vigilance.
Reaffirming the Corps’ mandate, CC Ajayi assured residents of the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, stressing that officers and men of the Corps are fully mobilised to combat crime and criminality throughout the festive period.
The Command also advised residents to remain security conscious by securing their homes while travelling, staying alert in crowded places, reporting suspicious activities to security agencies, supervising the movements of young persons, travelling responsibly, celebrating moderately, and verifying the identity of individuals claiming to be security or government officials.
The State Commandant assured the public of round-the-clock security coverage across Sokoto State and called on residents to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful Yuletide celebration.
He extended goodwill messages to Christian faithful and wished all residents of the state a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, urging them to remain law-abiding and security conscious during and after the festive season.
For further information, the Command advised members of the public to contact the Head of Operations on 08035333134, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer on 08139420180 or 07085007103, and the Armed Squad Unit Commander on 07064291613.
