Federal Fire Service Promotes Principal Staff Officer to Controller, Elevates 2,850 Officers Nationwide

The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has announced the promotion of its Principal Staff Officer to the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Deputy Controller of Fire (DCF) Musa Sunday Abiola, to the rank of Controller of Fire, alongside the elevation of 2,850 other officers in the 2025 promotion exercise.

The promotion exercise follows the approval graciously granted by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Honourable Minister of Interior and Chairman, Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, CGF Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, FCNA, ACTI, expressed profound appreciation to the President, the Honourable Minister, and members of the CDCFIB for their sustained support, commitment to personnel welfare, and steadfast dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s fire and emergency response architecture.

According to the CGF, the newly promoted officers span several senior cadres, including Controller of Fire, Deputy Superintendent of Fire, and Assistant Superintendent of Fire, a development that significantly enhances the Service’s leadership capacity and operational effectiveness nationwide.

CGF Olumode congratulated all officers who benefited from the promotion exercise, commending their professionalism, perseverance, and loyalty to the Service. He urged them to see their elevation not only as recognition of past performance but also as a renewed call to higher responsibility, discipline, and service to the nation.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to staff welfare and continuous professional development, the CGF stated that the leadership of the Service remains focused on creating an enabling environment that promotes career progression, operational efficiency, and excellence. He assured personnel of continued investments in modern firefighting equipment, capacity-building programmes, and improved working conditions.

He further noted that the promotions would strengthen morale, deepen institutional capacity, and enhance the Service’s ability to prevent, mitigate, and respond effectively to fire outbreaks and other emergencies across the country. A motivated and well-equipped Federal Fire Service, he stressed, is critical to safeguarding lives and property and reinforcing public confidence in Nigeria’s emergency response institutions.
