NSCDC Builds 500 Housing Units For Corps Personnel

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has commenced the construction of 500 mass  housing units for its officers and men in Plateau State

The Commandant General of the NSCDC Dr Ahmed Audi disclosed this on Friday during a foundation laying ceremony to flag-off the construction of the housing project situated on a 30-hectare land in the Du community, Jos South Local Government Area of the state

Audi said the housing project was in line with the Federal Government’s policy, which aims to reduce the housing deficits, especially among public servants.

According to him, “This project is a product of the Federal Government’s policy of reducing housing deficits in the country, especially among public servants.

“It has been the desire of the Commandant General of the NSCDC to improve on the welfare of its officers and men across the country. He will continue to pursue and harness any opportunity that will improve on the living condition of the officers not only in the area of housing but in other areas as well.

“The importance of this project is not only limited to the lives of NSCDC officers and men today but even to their lives after retirement as well as their children and generations unborn.’’

“As the project is going on, we will make sure that all the terms and conditions of the contract and Memorandum of Understanding are strictly adhered to until the project is completed,” the CG who was represented by the Assistant Command General, Suleiman Mafara stated.

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, who performed the foundation laying ceremony for the project, commended the NSCDC for siting the mass housing units in Plateau.

He noted that siting the project in Plateau which is first of it’s kind in the country would be mutually beneficial as it would not only assist the state in it’s  developmental efforts but also help to curb security challenges especially within the host community

Represented by the state Commissioner for Works, Adams Bulus Lekshak, Governor Mutfwang said his administration would do everything possible to ensure the success of the mass housing units while promising to construct access road leading to the estate

“Usually in the developed world, when you want to start a project like this, there must be a very good road network before building the houses. I have seen the nature of the roads and in no distant time, we are going to mobilise to address the road needs of this housing project,” the governor assured.

The Managing Director and  Chief Executive Officer of La Guerra Investment Limited handling the project Abdulhamid  Idris informed Arewa PUNCH that the 500 mass housing units situated on a sprawling 30-hectare plot of land will be developed in 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units designed with modern amenities and using state of the art rammed earth technology

He assured that his company is committed to innovation and stability and would deliver on its mandate to complete the projects on record time .

Our Correspondent reports that the state Commandant of the NSCDC, AB Barunde-led officers, and men of the state Command to witness the commencement of the 500 mass housing project, which is expected to be completed in 18 months.
