The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC has commended Mr Nura Abdullahi a volunteer in Kano for returning more than N20 million forgotten by a co passenger in a commercial tricycle describing his act as “a rare display of honesty integrity and professionalism.”
The commendation was presented by ACG Amos Abiodun Taiwo NSCDC Zonal Commander Zone 12 Kano on Friday. Abdullahi reportedly found the money after a passenger Alhaji Mustafa from Katsina State mistakenly left his bag behind. Using the last dialed number on the passenger’s phone Abdullahi traced and contacted the rightful owner to return the cash.
Abiodun Taiwo highlighted that such honesty is rare particularly in today’s economic climate noting that Abdullahi is a volunteer not a regular staff who himself could not boast of N20 000 in his account. The act was reported to the Commandant General Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi who directed that Abdullahi be celebrated as an exemplar of integrity.
The commander praised Abdullahi as a role model for his family the NSCDC and Nigeria urging the public especially young people to emulate his moral courage. Abdullahi is expected to be “handsomely rewarded” for his exemplary conduct underscoring the enduring value of honesty.
