The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMA, Major General C. R. Nnebeife, on October 9, 2025, paid an operational visit to Patrol Base Babanla following a recent bandit attack near Idofin in Ayekale Village, Omu-Aran Local Government Area, Kwara State.
During the attack at Olegbede Village, about 12 kilometres from Idofin Ayekale, three traders sadly lost their lives.
As part of his visit, Major General Nnebeife called on the Chief of Ayekale Village, Oba Pius Oluwole Oni Dofin of Idofin Odoeshe Ayekale, to condole with him and his community over the incident. The monarch attributed the attack to the village’s proximity to Babasango Forest, a known hideout for criminal elements.
In his response, Major General Nnebeife sympathized with the royal father and assured him that the Nigerian Army would sustain its operations to rid the forest and surrounding areas of bandits and other criminal groups.
Earlier, during his visit to Patrol Base Babanla, the GOC led troops on an advance operation into Babasango Forest, where they successfully rescued two kidnapped victims. The victims were later handed over to Oba Pius Oluwole during the GOC’s visit to the community.
