NYSC not place to breed negative vices, NSCDC boss tells Corps members

State Commandant of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, Prince Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye has informed corps members that NYSC is a disciplined youth organisation that will not condone any negative vices that are associated with youthful exuberance.

The State Commandant made this known while addressing 2024 Batch ‘B’ (Stream 1) corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.

According to tactical and terrorism neutralisation experts, some youths exhibit some unruly behaviour and attitude which they grew up with at their various homes or picked up while they were in school.Related PostsCrisis brews in Ondo community over new yam festival LG/LCDAs: PDP calls for immediate resignation of Ondo Attorney GeneralLG Autonomy: Exercise caution in inaugurating transition committees, Ondo lawmaker advices Aiyedatiwa

The Kwara-born royal officer of the NSCDC said that their mandate, alongside other security agencies, was to protect the lives and properties of citizens and residents but added that anyone who violated the law of the land would be dealt with according to the law of the land.

The Security expert who was mobilised and deployed to Kebbi during 1997/98 service year hinted that the period of service is another phase which the corps members should utilise to rediscover themselves.

While reassuring the members of the service corps that their security is paramount and guaranteed in the Sunshine State because of its peaceful atmosphere, he disclosed that the State paraded well-grounded and thoroughbred Heads of security agencies that know their onions and have wide and varied experiences over the years.

The 20th NSCDC boss to be so appointed to head the security outfit in Ondo State, Ibiloye reminded the corps members that the Scheme was established to encourage inter-relationships among the various tribes and ethnic groups that made up the country with a view to promoting unity and integration.

He implored the corps members, whom he described as future leaders of this country not to entangle themselves with cybercrimes and other vices that have turned the society upside down.

In his welcome address, the State Coordinator, Mr Sam Amaramiro Pepple congratulated the corps members for being fortunate to host three security chiefs in the state.

The State Coordinator allayed their fear on whatever misconception they may have had before coming to the Sunshine State but disclosed that the coming of the Brigade Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, the Commissioner of Police, and the State Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in quick succession within the space of a week was to show the level of commitment of all the security agencies towards the NYSC Scheme in Ondo.

Pepple, while thanking his guest for the visit which he described as morale booster to the corps members and confidence in the security architecture of the state, assured him that his compatriots in the national service are patriotic and nation-builders that will uphold the objectives of the founding fathers of the noble Scheme.
