NSCDC arrests 35-year-old for stealing fertilizer in Gombe

The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Friday paraded a 35-year-old man for stealing 26 bags of fertilizer in Kaltungo Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking with journalists at the state headquarters, Commandant Muhammad Bello, represented by the Public Relations Officer, Saad Buhari, said the arrest was based on intelligence.

A bag of fertilizer in the Gombe open market is sold for N42,000.

“Mohammed Sani, 35 years old from Arawa B, Gombe, carted away 26 bags of fertilizer from a shop in Ture, Kaltungo.

“Sani took the bags with the support of a friend who is currently at large. He will be charged with conspiracy, mischief, and theft.” The commandant said.

Additionally, Bello paraded a notorious criminal wanted by other security agencies for various crimes.

“We have Abubakar Mohammed, 26, also known as Baba Condenser. He is a notorious criminal previously on our wanted list. He conspired with Ahmed Adamu, 23, a resident of Barunde.

“The suspects conspired to kidnap Bello Sani, 26, and collected a ransom of N70,000 before releasing him. The command was swift in arresting them. They will be charged with banditry and kidnapping in the state,” he added.

Three other suspects were also paraded for vandalism.

“Gombe State Water Board complained about the vandalism of cables in their transformer. Haruna Abdullahi, Yusuf Saidu, and Hassan Mohammed were arrested for tampering with the cables from their transformers,” Bello said.
