NSCDC ARRESTS SUSPECT FOR VANDALIZING BRIDGE IRON WIRE IN AUYO LGA

In a determined effort to combat acts of vandalism and infrastructure sabotage, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kafin Hausa Division have arrested one Basiru Yushe’u, aged 38, of Magarya Village, Auyo Local Government Area, for the alleged vandalization of a bridge iron wire at Bakin Gada, Auyo LGA.

The arrest was made on Friday, 18th July, 2025, following a distress call received by the NSCDC operatives in Kafin Hausa Divisional office at exactly 0940hrs. The suspect was apprehended at the point of attempting to sell the vandalized iron material, prompting a swift response from NSCDC operatives.

During investigation process, the suspect confess that he was fishing when he saw the cable and he uses a metal hand saw to cut off the cable where he conveyed it to a hidden place where nobody will see it and then the next day carried it to the scrap market.

The Command views this act as a serious threat to public safety and infrastructure development, and hereby issues a strong warning to individuals or groups engaging in vandalism to desist from such acts or face the full wrath of the law.

The State Commandant, while commending the officers involved in the operation, reiterates the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding all critical national assets and infrastructure in the state. He urges members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to report any suspicious activity within their communities.

The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
