NSCDC nabs two suspected vandals in Jigawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command, apprehended two suspects for alleged vandalism.

The state Commandant of the corps, Mr Bala Bawa Bodinga, disclosed this during an interactive session with newsmen on Monday in Dutse, the state capital.

Bodinga said that the suspects were arrested in Fagam village in Gwaram Local Government Area by men of the command while on patrol.

He also said the suspects, aged between 25 and 30, were arrested on June 25, at about 12noon after they allegedly vandalised power line along Fagam-Lele-Kwayi Road.
He revealed that six sets of high tension insulator, 15 insulator pots, 11 pieces of broken insulator and 20.7 metres of 10mm aluminum conductor wire were recovered from the suspects.

The commandant said that other items recovered from the suspects were one high tension rod, six spanners, five pieces of bolts and nots, U-shaped bolt and not, knife and one boxer motorcycle with registration number KMC 266 QN.

The suspects who claimed to be blacksmith and hunter respectively, will soon be charged to court.

He also disclosed that the command on June 10 recovered abandoned three rolls of aluminium wire close to Kuda dam in Babura Local Government area of the state.

Bodinga reassured all that the corps would continue to safeguard Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across the state and beyond.

He urged members of the public to furnish the command with credible information in order to maintain peace and security in the state.
