Stay Away from Jigawa, NSCDC Commandant Bala Bodinga Warns Vandals of Government Utilities

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, has issued a strong warning to individuals and groups involved in the vandalism of public infrastructure, urging them to steer clear of the state or face the full weight of the law.

Commandant Bodinga made the declaration during a chat with journalists at the State Command Headquarters in Dutse, where he reaffirmed the Corps’ unflinching commitment to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure across Jigawa State. He stated unequivocally that under his watch, vandals and economic saboteurs will find no safe haven in any part of the state.

“We are sending a clear and final message to all criminal elements to stay away from Jigawa State. The era of unchecked vandalism is over. Anyone caught tampering with government facilities, be it water pipes, electricity transformers, telecom cables, rail lines, or oil pipelines, will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Bodinga said.

He described the destruction of public utilities as not only a crime against the state but also a direct sabotage of the people’s welfare and national development.

Since assuming office on May 9, 2025, Commandant Bodinga has led several intelligence-driven operations in partnership with sister security agencies to curb vandalism and other crimes affecting public infrastructure. He revealed that the command has already recorded significant successes, including the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of stolen items.

“Under my leadership, we have intensified surveillance, increased patrols, and empowered our personnel with the necessary tools and intelligence to track down offenders. Let it be known: Jigawa is not a dumping ground for crime. We are ready, vigilant, and determined,” he added.

The Commandant also appealed to residents to support the NSCDC’s efforts by reporting suspicious activities and persons around public installations. He praised community members and traditional rulers who have been actively cooperating with the Corps to safeguard local assets.

Bodinga commended the leadership of the NSCDC at the national level, particularly the Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for providing strategic direction, logistics, and moral support in the fight against vandalism nationwide.

As Jigawa continues to witness developmental projects across various sectors, Bodinga reassured the public that the NSCDC remains resolute in its mission to protect lives, property, and the infrastructure that drives economic and social progress.

“The message is loud and clear,” Bodinga concluded. “Vandals are not welcome in Jigawa.”
