In what has been described as intentional determination, courage, zeal and high expression of leadership tenacity to end the mindless, barbaric and highly condemnable killings across Benue State, the President and commander in Chief of the Armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu today brought the full weight of presidential zest to Benue State during a condolence and appraisal Visit.

The president who had earlier given marching orders to service chiefs and other well meaning Stakeholders following the wanton killings of armed less citizens in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, and the massive outcry that accompanied the unfortunate incidents, which is one among many killings.

A visibly looking unhappy President with the manner in which the killings are being carried out, wonder why perpetrators are not being brought to book.
“How can no arrests have been made, I expect there should be arrests of those criminals”.

The President challenged Security Agencies to immediately get out these criminals mindless individuals.
“To the Men and Women of the Armed forces, Security Forces and the Police, thank you for the good job you have been doing and what you are still doing to keep our citizens safe and our country more respected”.

In his welcome address, His Excellency Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State commended the President most sincerely for his immense fatherly affections over the State and appealed among others for the establishment of State Police, which he noted that though with it own peculiar inherent challenges, is a panacea to steaming the tide of violence in Benue State.
The Governor was categorical in his condemnation of the barbaric and mindless killings across the State.

Furthermore, the Paramount ruler of the Tiv nation who spoke during the town hall meeting on behalf of the traditional institution in the State, HRM Orchivirigh Professor James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, asserted strongly, “we have grave concerns about the misinformation and misrepresentation of the security crisis in Benue State, your Excellency, it’s not herders-farmers Clashes, it’s not communal Clashes, it’s not reprisal attacks or skirmishes but what we are dealing with in Benue is a calculated, well-planned, full- scale genocidal invasion and land grabbing campaign by Herders terrorists and bandits, which has been going on for decades and is worsening every year”.

The Commandant General Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi on arrival before proceeding to the airport to receive the president with other security chiefs was warmly received by the Assistant Commandant General in charge of Zone 8 Headquarters, ACG Solomon Iyamu, the State Commandant Commandant Alice Bitrus, Service Commanders in Benue and the host Local Government Chairman and ALGON Chairman, Hon Maurice Orwough,

The Commandant General who was comprehensively briefed on arrival by the Local Government Chairman, empathized with the people of Benue State and vehemently condemned the killings in whatever name or reasons.

He further promised in collaboration with other security agencies to escalate the grave areas and concerns raised by every critical stakeholders in order to bring to an end this wanton killings across the State.

On the request to deploy more
men and weapons across the State, the Commandant General assured that concrete steps will be taken to immediately address it.
