NSCDC Committed to Rule of Law, Respect for Human Rights, Kwara Commandant Assures NBA

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has pledged to partner with the Ilorin Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to strengthen the fight against crime and ensure the effective prosecution of offenders.

The State Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, made this known while receiving members of the NBA Ilorin Branch at the Command Headquarters in Ilorin on Tuesday, 17th June 2025.

Commandant Umar reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to professionalism, discipline, and the protection of human rights. He stated that the Command has intensified training and reorientation programs to ensure that officers operate in accordance with the rule of law.

He noted that safeguarding lives and property must go hand in hand with respecting the rights and dignity of citizens. He further assured the NBA of the Corps’ willingness to collaborate with legal professionals to support the smooth and lawful prosecution of criminal elements threatening the peace of the state.

The Chairman of the NBA Ilorin Branch, Mr Sulyman Kosemani, who led the delegation, commended the NSCDC for its professionalism and growing credibility in the state. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between security agencies and legal institutions in upholding the rule of law and protecting human rights.

He also urged NSCDC officers to remain steadfast in preserving the rights and dignity of all citizens, in line with constitutional provisions.
