<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has commended the troops for their resilience and doggedness in tackling security threats, particularly in the North-West region of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur mission is to ensure lasting peace in Nigeria. The enemy is active, but we will not rest until we succeed,\u201d Oluyede said during a Sallah Luncheon for troops of the North West Taskforce, Operation Fansan Yamma, held in Sokoto on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oluyede who was represented by Maj.-Gen. Adeleke Ayannuga, Commander of the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare also promised improved welfare for personnel and their families stationed across various army formations in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He praised the troops for their sacrifices fo the nation and assured them they were not forgotten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that protecting lives and property remains the Nigerian Army\u2019s core mandate, and the military is prepared to meet expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The COAS applauded the troops for their resilience in confronting numerous security challenges across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He thanked Nigerians for their ongoing support and urged them to continue cooperating with the military to defeat the country\u2019s enemies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe appreciate Nigerians\u2019 support and call for more collaboration to overcome threats to national security,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oluyede expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for providing resources and a supportive environment for military operations nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged troops to avoid illegal activities, cooperate with security agencies, and build trust with the civilian population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The COAS described the troops as symbols of courage and sacrifice, inspiring national unity and pride through their efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Nigerians appreciate their unwavering commitment, selflessness, and resilience in defending the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEid Kabir represents sacrifice, a value that reflects soldiers\u2019 daily lives in various theatres of operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI urge you to stay resolute and draw strength from the season\u2019s spiritual message,\u201d Oluyede encouraged the troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Maj.-Gen. Ibikunle Ajose, GOC 8 Division and Commander Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, praised the COAS\u2019 philosophy as a morale booster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ajose said the event celebrated not just Sallah, but also the troops\u2019 achievements, shared resolve, and collective sacrifices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the Funtua-Gusau-Sokoto road is now safer, and communities in four states enjoy peace previously disrupted by criminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oluyede, Ajose, and other senior officers served meals to the troops during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees included the Sultan\u2019s representative, Dr Jabbi Kilgori, the Commissioner of Police for Sokoto State, Ahmed Musa, and other security heads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration featured cultural performances, dances, and other recreational activities for participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
