{"id":9309,"date":"2025-05-28T06:29:39","date_gmt":"2025-05-28T06:29:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/psmnigeria.org\/?p=9309"},"modified":"2025-05-28T06:32:13","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T06:32:13","slug":"nigerian-army-explains-reason-behind-continuing-detention-of-corporal-amina-maidoki","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psmnigeria.org\/?p=9309","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian Army explains reason behind continuing detention of Corporal Amina Maidoki"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Nigerian Army has explained that the continuous detention of Corporal Amina Maidoki was to carry out a proper investigation regarding the allegation of theft against her, saying that disciplinary measures within the Nigerian Army are not arbitrary but governed by due process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It will be recalled that the 25-year-old female soldier, Amina Sani Maidoki, was kept in detention over a claim by Salamatu Faruk Yahaya, the wife of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya (retd), that $50,000 went missing from her residence in Abuja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lt Col Appolonia Anele, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, in a statement, said an investigation into the matter is being conducted with the utmost regard for Corporal Maidoki\u2019s legal and human rights, and she continues to receive appropriate welfare in line with military standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Nigerian Army categorically denies any allegation of unlawful detention, or denial of legal representation. All such claims are false and are rendered simply to mislead the public and draw undue sentiments,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Urging the public to disregard false submissions, the statement further articulated: \u201cIn every way, the Nigerian Army acknowledges the concerns of Corporal Maidoki\u2019s family and sympathises with the emotional toll this may cause. The NA remains open to lawful communication and engagement, provided such interactions align with the operational and investigative procedures currently in place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Nigerian Army noted that it ensures the rights of all accused are respected, irrespective of the persons involved, stating that none of its personnel is above the law
