The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Enugu State Command, recently hss paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Hon. Justice Afojulu Raymond Ozoemena, who also serves as Chairman of the Enugu State Judicial Service Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The State Commandant, who was accompanied by principal officers of the Command, was warmly received by the Chief Judge in the company of Justice Catherine Ifeoma Nwobodo and Justice Anthony Onovo<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the visit, the Commandant noted that the purpose of the visit was to formally introduce himself to the judiciary, having already paid similar courtesy visits to the State Governor and the Speaker of the House of Assembly. He stated that he assumed duty in Enugu State in November 2024 and had since initiated several reforms aimed at enhancing security across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He highlighted key achievements, including the establishment of four new Area Commands and 20 additional Divisional Offices, all geared towards improving security coverage in the state. He also mentioned notable progress in the Safe Schools Initiative, deployment of the Female Squad, Agro Rangers activities, and the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The State Commandant sought the collaboration of the judiciary for the speedy dispensation of NSCDC-related cases, support in the training of NSCDC personnel, and engagement of the Corps’ legal department in judicial engagements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, Hon. Justice Ozoemena commended the Commandant for his proactive vision and urged him to continue working for the peace and security of Enugu State. Justice Nwobodo encouraged the NSCDC to urge its legal unit to explore areas of collaboration with the judiciary, particularly as it relates to the judiciary furnishing legal officers and resource persons for training and capacity building of NSCDC personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
