The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commenced manhunt for gunmen that killed one of its personnel in an attack on April 10, 2025 in Igbomotoru Community, Southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unknown gunmen has launched attack on the NSCDC operatives during a pipeline protection duty in the community, killing one officer, CAI Victor Ofem Ibang, and injured three other surveillance staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Commandant of NSCDC in the state, CC Eweka Edenabu Douglas commended the courage and resilience of the personnel who came under attack by the gunmen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Douglas, while confirming the attack, said a manhunt has already been launched to track down and bring the assailants to justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reassured the public of the NSCDC\u2019s commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure in the Niger Delta region and called for cooperation from residents in providing useful information to aid the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commandant Douglas who condoled the family of the late officer, noted that the necessary rites and benefits would be accorded the victim in due course, assuring that the Corps will continue to clamp down on vandals in the State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe incident occurred at about 15:30 hours on Thursday 10th day of April 2025, the joint patrol team was returning from a clampdown operation where they were ambushed and exchange of gunfire took place but unfortunately, the NSCDC lost one of his personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe NSCDC as the leading agency in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in the nation will not be deterred by any attack by vandals which aim is to sabotage the effort of government in eradicating bunkery activities in the Niger Delta region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Commandant added that the NSCDC said the remains of the slain officer has been deposited at the morgue while conveying the condolences of the Corps to the family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
