The Nigeria Employers\u2019 Consultative Association (NECA) has called for continued collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to foster inclusive growth, enhance trade competitiveness, and strengthen the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Ifeanyi Okoye, President of NECA, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Services, Bashir Adeniyi, in Abuja, recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Okoye stated that the purpose of the visit was to deepen the partnership on trade facilitation and private sector development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasised that with more than 4,000 member-companies and 30 industrial affiliates, NECA remained committed to advocating for a more enabling and competitive business environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are here today not only to deepen our engagement with the Nigeria Customs Service but also to commend the significant achievements recorded under your leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese milestones reflect a clear commitment to reform, operational excellence, and service delivery,\u201d Okoye said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He particularly lauded the suspension of the Free on Board (FOB) policy directive, calling it a proactive response to the concerns of organised businesses and a demonstration of the Service\u2019s willingness to engage with stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Okoye, expressed hope for continued dialogue to ensure that policies were developed in partnership with the private sector for shared prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also highlighted key trade facilitation tools introduced by the NCS, such as the Advance Ruling, the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme, and the Time Release Study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These reforms, he noted, had significantly reduced bureaucratic bottlenecks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Okoye, emphasised that these initiatives had contributed to cost reduction for small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), directly supporting Nigerian businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese reforms are not just policies on paper; they are impactful initiatives directly supporting Nigerian businesses, particularly SMEs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe look forward to continued engagement with the NCS to promote inclusive growth, enhance trade competitiveness, and strengthen the economy,\u201d Okoye added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his response, Adeniyi thanked the NECA delegation for their visit and recognition of the Service\u2019s efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reaffirmed the NCS\u2019s commitment to working closely with the private sector to create a more inclusive trade environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
