Maku Olatunde A has pledged to support the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) in performing its statutorily responsibility of regulating and controlling the pharmaceutical practices in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Comdt. Maku stated this in Awka on Tuesday 24, June 2024 when he received in audience the Anambra State Pharmaceutical Inspection Committee( PIC)&nbsp; and Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors Licence committee ( PPMVL) on a courtesy visit at the State Command Headquarters Awka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PCN team, led by Pharm. Madike Obum,&nbsp; Chairman Pharmaceutical Inspection Committee,&nbsp; informed the NSCDC Commandant, Maku Olatunde, and other&nbsp; very senior officers of the need to explore areas of mutual interest and cooperation between the two agencies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her contribution, Pharm. ( Mrs) Fechi Njoku, the PCN State officer\/ Secretary of the Committee said<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the visit&nbsp; aimed to strengthen the partnership between the two organizations in enforcing laws and regulations governing the pharmaceutical industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The discussion focused on issues such as Counterfeiting and adulteration of drugs,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlicensed pharmacy practices, Illegal drug distribution and sales<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and enforcement of pharmaceutical standards and regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The courtesy visit ended with both PCN and NSCDC agreeing to work together to Conduct joint inspections and raids on illegal pharmaceutical premises, Share intelligence and information on drug-related criminal activities, Provide training and capacity building for NSCDC personnel on pharmaceutical regulation and enforcement and Collaborate on public awareness campaigns to educate the public on the dangers of counterfeit and substandard drugs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The visit marked a significant step towards enhancing the regulation and enforcement of pharmaceutical practices in Anambra State.
