Mallam Yahaya Buba, the 42-year-old accused person who tied the hands of his 21-year-old nephew Mohammed Adamu has committed to providing limitless support to the victim whose arms were amputated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adamu\u2019s arms became numb, having been tied for hours, a situation which deprived free blood circulation from his other parts of the body to the arms, thus causing the bodily harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, Buba, who is Adamu\u2019s uncle, had accused his nephew, Adamu, of stealing his son\u2019s phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Buba, who is a farmer and grassroots mobiliser, blamed the eventual amputation to work of devil, alleging that Adamu had a history of stealing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Narrating the incident, the accussed explained thus, \u201cI\u2019m a farmer from Sambo Daje in kashere, Pindiga Emirate, Akko Local Government. I plant mostly maize and beans, which I cultivate. I have 10 children, but two are dead presently. So, I\u00a0 have eight children left and one wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAdamu is my elder brother\u2019s son. It was the work of the devil. It wasn\u2019t a planned work or intentional of me to disfigure my nephew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe (Adamu) is in the habit of breaking into people\u2019s houses to burgle their homes, stealing items. He brings to the house all sorts of items, like goats, cows, and farm produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhenever he steals from the farm produce for example, if it is one bag that he stole from someone, he will now set fire on the rest of the farm produce and whenever he is caught and they report him to me, I usually beg for his forgiveness for the people to leave him for me to be disciplined,\u201d Buba stated<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commenting on why he chose to tie his arms as punishment, Buba blamed himself for taking the laws into his hands \u201cThe boy stole my biological son\u2019s phone and he was caught by another person and was brought home, then we tied him up at home around 1:30pm and left for jummat prayers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We left the boy tied up at home. The mistake I made was when the boy was brought to me, I took laws into my own hands instead of me to look for the right channel to handle the boy,\u201d he blamed himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking further on the sort of punishments meted on Adamu, Buba said, \u201cInitially, I intended to untie him before leaving for prayers but because I have doubts that the boy will run away that was why I left him tied up around 1:30 pm and I untied him around 2:15 pm that same day. My plan was to take him to Kashere Police Division, but I couldn\u2019t do that because i was angry and, at the same time, rushing out for prayers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While lauding the efforts of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps personnel for stepping into the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Buba said he also blamed his brother, who is Adamu\u2019s father, for the turnout of events, even as he accused him of squandering the money paid for his son\u2019s treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe victim\u2019s (Adamu), parents after hearing what happened to their son,\u00a0 reported the case to the office of the Civil Defence seeking justice for their son and that I must be penalised. But upon reaching the office, I was asked to first pay N30,000 for the boy\u2019s treatment and to sign an undertaken that I will take responsibility for whatever will happen to the boy in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI paid the money, and my brother (Adamu\u2019s father) collected the money and went away, and i still continued paying for the boy\u2019s treatment even after paying the initial N30,000.Related News<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI wish to thank the NSCDC for weighing into the matter. Although they are charging me alongside the state but they tried immensely to remedy the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPerhaps If they had been involved earlier, we may not have amputated the arms. They have ensured the child\u2019s well-being, signed all necessary papers to ensure the boy gets good treatment prior to now when I was providing the money for his treatment but Adamu\u2019s father will squander it and the boy would be left alone,\u201d Buba stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Continuing, he stressed, \u201cHowever, with the NSCDC\u2019s involvement, they have ensured that Adamu got the best medical support,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adamu, who denied his uncle\u2019s allegation, said he doesn\u2019t have a history of stealing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think my uncle doesn\u2019t just like me. I wasn\u2019t even around the day the phone was stolen,\u201d he defended himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When contacted, Adamu\u2019s father, Tela Daji, denied Buba\u2019s allegations that he squandered the money provided for his son\u2019s treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
