{"id":5099,"date":"2025-02-07T07:32:11","date_gmt":"2025-02-07T07:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/psmnigeria.org\/?p=5099"},"modified":"2025-02-07T07:33:50","modified_gmt":"2025-02-07T07:33:50","slug":"new-army-goc-pledges-impartiality-in-addressing-plateaus-security-challenges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psmnigeria.org\/?p=5099","title":{"rendered":"New army GOC pledges impartiality in addressing Plateau\u2019s security challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding, GOC, 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, has pledged to be just and impartial in addressing the security challenges in Plateau State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oyinlola made the commitment during a courtesy visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos, the state capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/popup.taboola.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him: \u201cFor decades, clashes between herding and farming communities in Plateau have led to significant loss of lives and property, with both sides blaming each other for the violence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To restore confidence between the warring factions, the new GOC said he would approach the situation with fairness and justice, assuring the governor and the people of Plateau of his commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oyinlola stressed the need to sustain and build upon previous achievements to ensure lasting stability in the Joint Operations Area, which covers Plateau and its neighbouring states, while acknowledging the efforts of his predecessor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the priority is not just to maintain the existing peace in the state but to strengthen it, ensuring that all parties feel secure and supported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe security challenges in Plateau require a multi-faceted approach. We must engage all stakeholders and ensure their voices are heard in our quest for lasting peace,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/popup.taboola.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Governor Mutfwang, while responding, expressed his appreciation for the GOC\u2019s visit and assured him of the state government\u2019s full support in tackling security threats in the state and the country at
