The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has deployed its operatives to guard against unforeseen incidents and prevent lives and property of Nigerians that might be tempted scooping fuel from a fallen tanker at scene of a fallen along the Guaraka-Kaduna Road in Kaduna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CSC Babawale Afolabi, National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja, in a statement, disclosed that the aim of the NSCDC was to prevent a fire outbreak that could destroy lives and properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recalled that several lives were lost when a tanker loaded with PMS fell, and residents were scooping fuel in Niger State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To curtail this, the NSCDC, led by the Operational and Disaster Response Team and a representative of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar, was at the scene to prevent a reoccurrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn a swift response, tactical teams were deployed to forestall a fire disaster at Guaraka-Kaduna road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs soon as we received intelligence regarding a tanker conveying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) that accidentally fell off the road at Guaraka along the Kaduna road, we deployed our tactical operational and disaster team to secure the area and prevent the scooping of fuel by hoodlums. We also collaborated with Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) officers to prevent unnecessary traffic jams, ensuring crowd control and overall security of the environment,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe DCG Operations, Philip Ayuba, who led the team, noted that the swift response aligns with one of the NSCDC\u2019s mandates, which centers on disaster mitigation, victim rescue during emergencies, and the distribution of relief materials to displaced persons, among other responsibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe want to affirm that the situation is currently under control as our emergency team is fully on the ground. This action has helped to prevent further damages or incidents beyond control.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NSCDC is, however, reassuring the public of adequate security and safety around the terrain, noting that a high level of vigilance and preparedness will continue to be maintained by the Corps to ensure the safety and security of lives and property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
