It’s exciting to be in your midst this afternoon to honour one
of the most patriotic speakers of the State House of Assembly, Right
Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, who also doubles up as Chairman,
Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, with the
People\u2019s Security Monitor’s prestigious award for ‘Most
Outstanding Speaker in Legislative Procedure (Security Category).’
Before delving into this, I would like to brief the distinguished
General about our mission and modus operandi across all 36 states of
the federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People\u2019s Security Monitor is a media platform that essentially reports
on security matters in Nigeria. Our primary responsibility is to serve
as a platform, sustaining valid and viable advocacy in support of the
government\u2019s efforts to achieve ideal security for Nigeria and
Nigerians. We aim to gather suggestions from all Nigerians on how to
improve the nation\u2019s security system, particularly regarding
collaboration between various security operatives and the rest of the
populace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The above, however, explains why virtually all your efforts at
ensuring ideal security in Oyo State are of interest to us at People’s Security Monitor.
Based on all the available indices, your supportive and collaborative
roles in the area of security in Oyo State have been of tremendous
value, particularly among the youth, since your assumption of duties
as Oyo Chief Lawmaker.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And of course, this explains why we are here this afternoon to
specially commend and honour you for your tireless efforts in helping
build up and sustain security in Oyo State.
Honourable Speaker sir, some of the indices considered for this
prestigious honour include your timely intervention last year to
prevent a repeat of the devastating EndSARS protests that rocked the
nation in 2020. We truly appreciate your quick intervention and your
synergy with other state security operatives, which largely served as
a recipe for peace in Oyo State during the period under review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, we are also appreciative of your commitment to the peace
process in Ibarapaland. Your singular effort in addressing insecurity
through dialogue with representatives of various ethnic groups, youth
leaders, farmers, and others has indeed helped to halt the spate of
kidnappings, armed robberies, assassinations, and other crimes in
Ibarapaland. This, again, is one achievement that we highly
appreciate. Your leading role in the Oyo State House of Assembly,
which culminated in passing the Southwest Security Network (Amotekun)
bill into law, has further enhanced the security of lives and
properties of both indigenes and non-indigenes in the region. Permit
me to say that the Oyo State House of Assembly under your watch is
indeed adjudged to be one of the most active state legislative
chambers, with robust enabling security laws and resolutions that have
significantly aided Oyo State’s security since you assumed office.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the above sterling qualities explain why you are being honoured
today as the ‘Security Enabling Lawmaker Of The Year (2024)’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
