The Rivers State Police Command has presented cheques worth N76,016,799.28 to the families and next of kin of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the welfare of its personnel and their dependants.The presentation was carried out by the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as part of the Force’s welfare and insurance scheme designed to support the families of deceased officers.Speaking during the event, CP Adepoju said the gesture underscores the Inspector General’s dedication to the wellbeing of serving officers and the families of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.He noted that the initiative reflects the leadership’s resolve to ensure that the families of fallen officers are not abandoned after the loss of their loved ones, stressing that their sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property would always be remembered.The Commissioner further commended the Inspector General for sustaining programmes aimed at improving the welfare of police personnel and providing timely support to bereaved families across the country.According to him, the financial assistance is intended to cushion the effects of the loss suffered by the beneficiaries and provide meaningful support during a challenging period in their lives.The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police and the Rivers State Police Command for the intervention, describing the gesture as a demonstration of the Force’s continued concern for the welfare of officers and their families.They said the support would go a long way in assisting them to cope with the challenges occasioned by the loss of their loved ones and thanked the police leadership for remembering their families.The event forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen personnel welfare and maintain the confidence of officers that their service and sacrifices will be recognised and rewarded, even after death.The Rivers State Police Command reiterated its commitment to supporting the families of fallen heroes while encouraging serving officers to remain dedicated to their duties in the interest of national security and public safety.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
