The 48th Commander of 9 Brigade Nigerian Army since its establishment assumed office today, 21 August 2024. The new commander in person of Brigadier General Olawale Matthew Oyekola prior to his appointment was Chief of Staff at Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Handing and Taking Over Ceremony between the immediate past Commander, Brigadier General Adegoke Adetuyi and Brigadier General Matthew Oyekola was held at the Headquarters 9 Brigade Conference Room, Nigerian Army Cantonment, Ikeja, Lagos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The outgone Commander, during his farewell remarks to the officers, expressed mixed emotions sighting the various remarkable achievements during his tenure. He expressed satisfaction with the high level of discipline, dedication, and commitment displayed by the officers while he was Commander. He acknowledged that all his successes were due to the cooperation and support he received from everyone and therefore urged them to extend the same cooperation to his successor to drive the Brigade and Nigerian Army forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Afterward, Brigadier General Matthew Oyekola appreciated the Chief of Army Staff for his appointment as the Commander 9 Brigade Nigerian Army. He also praised Brigadier General Adegoke Adetuyi for his notable achievements, particularly the facelift he gave the brigade. He assured the officers that his tenure would build on the progress made by his predecessor and promised to sustain the drive for greater achievements. He solicited the support of the officers and urged them to be ready and fully committed to his vision for 9 Brigade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The outgone Commander, Brigadier General Adegoke Adetuyi, equally gave a farewell address to the troops at the 9 Brigade Garrison Parade Ground. After introducing the new Commander to the troops, he commended them for their support and diligence throughout his tenure, which enabled them to achieve noticeable feats. He urged them to extend the same support to the new Commander. He emphasized that discipline and good conduct are essential for achieving success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event featured the signing of handover notes, decoration of the newly appointed Commander with 9 Brigade Badge Insignia, handing over of the 9 Brigade Flag, and a group photograph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
