The operation was launched following credible intelligence indicating the existence of illegal petroleum-related activities in the Oteghele general area of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the operation, naval personnel located a large dugout reservoir concealed within the creek environment and filled with an estimated 10,000 litres of substance suspected to be crude oil. The find highlights the ingenuity of criminal elements engaged in the illegal exploitation and storage of petroleum products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In line with extant operational procedures and environmental safety protocols, the reservoir and its contents were appropriately handled to prevent the suspected stolen crude oil from being transported, processed, or utilised for unlawful purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The successful operation underscores the Nigerian Navy&#8217;s unwavering commitment to combating crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, illegal refining, and other forms of economic sabotage that undermine Nigeria&#8217;s economic growth and national security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Navy remains resolute in its efforts to deny criminal networks access to crude oil resources and the infrastructure used to facilitate their illicit activities. These operations form part of broader maritime security initiatives aimed at protecting the nation&#8217;s critical assets and enhancing stability within the Niger Delta region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Nigerian Navy therefore urges members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, as collaboration with local communities remains vital in the ongoing fight against crude oil theft and other maritime crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Service reassures Nigerians of its determination to sustain aggressive operations across the maritime domain and inland waterways to safeguard the nation&#8217;s economic interests and preserve the integrity of its oil and gas resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Commodore A.
