The Ogun State Police Command has reported that its Anti-Kidnapping Unit killed two suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted professional truck driver during a counter-operation in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victim was reportedly abducted at about 11:10 pm on August 25, 2026, in the Ajibawo area of Ibese. Following the report, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched an intelligence-led operation and tracked the suspects to their hideout along the Papalanto\u2013Ilaro Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, two suspects were killed during the operation, while other gang members escaped with varying degrees of gunshot injuries. A search of the hideout led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of ammunition, two mobile phones and \u20a62 million suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police said the bodies of the two suspects had been deposited at a morgue for autopsy, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang. Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for its courage and professionalism, saying the operation demonstrated the command\u2019s determination to tackle kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ojajuni assured residents that the police would continue to deploy intelligence-led policing, tactical operations and community partnerships to protect lives and property.
