Nigeria is seeking to strengthen its economic and strategic ties with the United States through a new investment-focused partnership in the solid minerals sector aimed at unlocking the full value of the country\u2019s vast mineral resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leading a delegation from the Nigeria Solid Minerals Company to the White House, officials held a series of high-level discussions with David Copley of the U.S. National Security Council and Diana London of the DCI Group. The talks centered on expanding cooperation between both countries and attracting investments that will accelerate the development of Nigeria\u2019s mining industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discussions focused on building a practical and mutually beneficial partnership that goes beyond the traditional export of raw minerals. Both sides explored opportunities for collaboration across the entire value chain, including mineral exploration, mining, processing, refining, and the development of critical infrastructure required to support sustainable growth in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the delegation, the proposed partnership is designed to attract long-term investments, facilitate technology transfer, strengthen local capacity, and create employment opportunities for Nigerians while positioning the country as a major player in the global minerals market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative aligns with the economic diversification agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which seeks to reduce Nigeria\u2019s dependence on oil revenues and leverage the nation\u2019s abundant solid mineral resources as a key driver of economic growth. It also supports ongoing efforts to ensure that more value is retained within the country through local beneficiation and industrialization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The engagement further reflects Nigeria\u2019s determination to play a strategic role in meeting the growing global demand for critical minerals needed for clean energy technologies, including electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and battery manufacturing.
