The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Ekiti State Command, on Thursday joined other security agencies at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport to receive the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, during his official visit to the state for the signing of the Peace Accord ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
The Peace Accord signing ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Afe Babalola Event Centre, Adebayo, Ado Ekiti. The event will bring together key stakeholders, political party leaders, security agencies, and civil society organisations in a collective commitment to a peaceful, credible, and violence-free electoral process.
The initiative, facilitated by the Independent National Electoral Commission and the National Peace Committee, is aimed at promoting dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence before, during, and after the election.
Speaking on the development, the State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command, DCF O.J. Olatunji, reaffirmed the Service\u2019s commitment to inter-agency collaboration in ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout the election period.
He noted that, as a critical emergency and rescue agency, the Federal Fire Service will work closely with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to maintain peace and public safety across the state.
According to him, emergency response operations, fire prevention measures, and rescue services will be intensified across Ekiti State to ensure a safe environment for residents and electoral stakeholders.
The Federal Fire Service further reiterated its commitment to protecting citizens and critical infrastructure, while calling on political actors and residents to uphold the spirit of the Peace Accord through lawful conduct, mutual respect, and peaceful engagement.
The Service also assured residents of Ekiti State of its readiness to provide prompt and effective emergency response services throughout the election period.
