Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun Command, says there is no cause for alarm regarding the ongoing nationwide protest in the state.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr. David Ojelabi, gave the assurance while addressing traders at Panseke market in Abeokuta on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent, who monitored the protest, reports that the commandant and some Deputy Corps Commandant (DCCs) had earlier visited M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium and Kuto market, both in Abeokuta to monitor the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ojelabi said that NSCDC and other security agencies would work together to protect the protesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNSCDC is assuring you that the protest will be peaceful, because that is our plan,\u201d he said, even as he prayed that at the end of the protest, nothing untoward would happen to any resident of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mrs Funmi Adegoke, a wholesale foodstuffs seller, who spoke on behalf of others, appreciated NSCDC for checking on them at the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Adegoke urged the government to look into the grievances of the citizens, adding that many Nigerians could not afford daily meals because of the current economic situation of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr Stanley Nwosu, a beautician at the market, said that the protest was in order because of the high cost of living in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nwosu urged the Federal Government to do take necessary steps to address the situation so as to prevent crime in the society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n NAN observed that trading and other activities continued unabated in the market and other parts of the metropolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n NAN also reports that an Ogun High Court had, on Wednesday, ordered the sponsors of the protests to limit their activities to four locations in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The court, presided over by Justice O. Ogunfowora, prohibited the protesters from protesting anywhere except at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta; Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Ota; Remo Divisional High School, Sagamu and Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
